Skid Pan driving course
Today I went to Gouda to take part in Skid Pan course (I hope that's the right name.. in Dutch - slipcursus) which included emergency break and afterwards sliding on a road full with water.
Normally I conciser myself a pretty good driver and I LOVE driving. In fact, I could live in my car, if only it had a built-in shower.
But just before three of us went for the first round, I got such a fear attack that I asked to be the last to drive and actually thought of stepping out of the car. Funny me.
Maybe it's because I drive in a car with an automatic gear for a year now.. I was afraid I forgot how to drive a normal car!
Eventually I did very well, if I may say so myself. Emergency stop was a piece of cake, while making circles in a sliding car was SCARY LIKE HELL!! Especially when you are on the back seat, while someone else is driving. I was pretty sure we would end up lying on the side.
Surprisingly, it wasn't half as scary when you actually drive. Twice I made full circles around myself and rolled back, and made an almost perfect straight line another 4 times. And got compliments from the instructor. Yuppie))
Here's a video of me making one good attempt and failing once, and (OMFG!) speaking some Dutch.
Eventually it was a great fun and I definitely want to take more advanced driving courses.
