If you follow my Instagram, you probably already saw that my first holographic item already arrived. Naturally, I couldn't wait to wear these amazing heels!
What I didn't expect is that I would get disoriented by a remark a formal colleague (from some fashion company I used to work at) left on my Facebook page (as a comment to these holographic heels): "They are as trivial, trite even vulgar as the leopard's ones". Actually she wasn't even talking to me - it was her reaction to the praise of a friend. Anyhow, this phrase made me think how differently people see trends or anything in life for that matter - what one think is beautiful, another one finds disgusting.
What amazed me the most was my reaction - all of the sudden I got confused. A second ago I was happy and couldn't wait to wear these heels, a second later - I was questioning my taste. I swear I spent 2 hours changing clothes, trying to understand how I felt about these heels... about my style... about Fashion.
My conclusion, dear fashion lovers, was as follows - f*ck everyone who instead of inspiring, discourages you. The only person who can tell you what's right for you - is you yourself.
Fashion is not math, though even in math imagination and creativity are important. Open your mind, think creative, expand horizons, try out new things, new combinations, and listen to your inner voice and it will tell you what's right and what's wrong. And develop a good inner filter to what people say, this way you won't need to descent your bedroom into chaos, trying half of your wardrobe on, when all you want is to wear a simple pair of holographic heels.
After this long rant let me get back to the outfit. The hologram heels made me want to style them crazily at first, with some bold colors, and I might do it in the future. But eventually I ended up wearing a partly-spiked semi-rockish outfit, with a plaid shirt, denim vest and simple skinny jeans.
I topped the whole story with a crystal heart necklace as I believe that clear accessories go nicely with hologram, AND because it's almost Valentines.
